Bamboo Removal in Belle Isle

Cutting bamboo to the ground only buys you a few months. We dig out the rhizomes that feed it, haul everything off and walk you through what it takes to keep it gone. You get a straight answer on cost and on what comes back.

Getting Rid of Bamboo for Good

Most bamboo trouble around your home comes from running bamboo. It spreads through rhizomes, thick roots that travel sideways in the top foot or so of soil. One stand can push under a fence, into a bed or up through a crack in a patio. The canes you see are only the part above ground.

Clumping bamboo is easier. It stays in a tight group but gets dense and heavy, and the root mass can be a big dig. Either way, the job is the same idea: take out what is underground, not just what is on top.

We look at the choice over the long run. Cutting canes is cheap today and costly every year after. A full dig costs more once and usually ends the problem. Where a neighbor's bamboo keeps coming across the line, a root barrier can be the better spend. We lay out all three and let you pick.

What the Job Includes

Cutting and clearing canes

We cut every cane at the base and stack it for haul-off. Old canes are hard and split sharp, so we clear them carefully around people, pets and pool screens.

Digging out rhizomes

We dig and pull the rhizome mat by hand, or with a small machine when access allows. We follow runners out past the visible stand, because that is where regrowth starts.

Haul-off and disposal

All canes, roots and soil clumps leave with us. Rhizome pieces can sprout again if they are dumped in a corner of the yard, so nothing stays behind.

Root barrier, if it makes sense

When bamboo is coming from next door or you want to keep a contained stand, we can set a heavy plastic barrier deep along the line. We only suggest it when it saves you repeat work.

Grading and repair

We backfill the holes and rough-grade the area. If you want the spot finished, we can follow up with sod installation or new beds through our mulch and beds service.

Signs Your Bamboo Needs to Come Out

  • Shoots far from the stand

New shoots popping up in the lawn or a flower bed several feet away mean rhizomes are running. The stand is bigger underground than it looks.

  • Pushing on fences or paving

Leaning fence boards, lifted pavers or new cracks near bamboo are a warning. Rhizomes and the weight of dense canes can do real damage over time.

  • Crowding out the yard

Grass and shrubs near bamboo thin out because the bamboo takes the water and the light. If the bare patch keeps growing, so is the bamboo.

  • Coming over from next door

Bamboo planted on a neighbor's side often shows up on yours first. Cutting your side helps for a while, but a barrier is usually what stops it.

  • Too dense to walk through

Old stands fill with dead canes and leaf litter. That gives rodents and snakes cover and makes the stand harder to clear the longer it waits.

How a Bamboo Job Goes

  1. 1

    Free walkthrough

We come out, look at the stand and probe the soil to see how far the rhizomes run. We check gate width, fences, slabs and sprinkler lines nearby. Then you get a free estimate with the options side by side.

  2. 2

    Clear the canes

On job day we cut the stand down and stack the canes. You can see the ground clearly by midday on most jobs.

  3. 3

    Dig the roots

We dig out the rhizome mat and chase the runners. If irrigation lines run through the area, we work around them and point out any that need repair, which our irrigation service can handle.

  4. 4

    Haul off and grade

Everything goes on the truck. We backfill, rake the area level and leave it ready for grass or beds.

  5. 5

    Check for regrowth

A few small shoots can show up from pieces left deep in the soil, especially once summer rain starts. We tell you what to watch for and how to handle stray shoots so they don't take hold again.

What Moves the Price

No two stands take the same amount of work. A tight clump beside a pool deck can be a short job, while a running hedge along an entire back fence line can take a full day or more. We set the price once we have walked it, and we break the number down so you can see where every part goes. If the bamboo is one piece of a larger yard project, we offer financing up to $100,000 on 2–12-year terms, no prepayment penalties.

Size and age of the stand
More canes and an older rhizome mat mean more cutting, more digging and more to haul. Old stands also have more dead cane mixed in.
Running or clumping
Running bamboo means chasing roots out past the stand. Clumping bamboo stays put, but the root ball can be heavy and slow to break up.
Access and what is nearby
A wide gate lets a small machine do the heavy digging. Tight side yards, fences, slabs and pipes mean more hand work.
Root barrier and restoration
A barrier adds material and trenching. Sod, mulch or new plants after the dig are priced separately so you can choose.

Bamboo Removal Questions

Something not covered here? (407) 289-1778

Can't I just cut it down and mow the shoots?

You can, and some people do it for years. The rhizomes stay alive and keep sending up shoots, so you are paying in time or money every season. Digging the roots costs more once but usually ends the routine. We will show you both so you can compare.

Will the bamboo come back after you remove it?

A few shoots can come up from root pieces left in the soil. That is normal and they are weak. Pull or cut them as soon as they show and they run out of energy. We tell you exactly what to watch for after the job.

The bamboo is my neighbor's. What can you do?

We can remove everything on your side and set a root barrier along the property line to stop new runners. We stay on your property. It helps to give your neighbor a heads-up before job day.

Do you spray chemicals to kill it?

We rely on cutting and digging the roots out. Spray alone rarely finishes running bamboo and can harm nearby plants. If something else makes sense for your yard, we will explain it at the walkthrough.

How long have you been doing this kind of work?

We have been in business since 2018, clearing bamboo, trees and overgrown areas around homes. If a stump or tree is part of the same area, we can handle it with stump grinding or tree trimming and removal on the same visit.
